Toddler Friendly Activities for Easter

These activities are simple and fun for kids to do! Here are several of the activities we enjoy doing for Easter:

Easter Egg: Sink or Float:

Perfect for teaching density and making predictions! Fill eggs with a variety of items, such as rocks, beans, cotton balls, paper clips, anything you have around your house! Next, predict if they will sink or float. Then, record the findings to see if their predictions were correct or incorrect and discuss why or why not.

What’s That Sound?

This is a great activity by itself or as a part of a Five Senses theme! We actually used it in our Five Senses theme and the eggs were a perfect fit since we did this activity around Easter. We filled each egg with one of the items from the pictures provided. We used the coordinating worksheets to complete the activity. Choose an egg, shake, listen, and try to determine which of the pictures you’re hearing inside the egg. Match the pictures to the worksheets and check your answers at the end!

You can find this exact activity as a themed bundle by Planning Playtime here!

Alphabet Matching

Love this super simple but engaging activity! This kept my kiddos busy for several minutes! I hid alphabet magnets in the eggs and let them choose one at a time to match the letters to the correct pocket on the chart. (I believe I got the alphabet pocket chart from Target in the dollar section sometime in the last couple of years.) You could do this with a variety of things, though, if you don’t have a pocket chart! Just a simple alphabet board, a book with letters displayed across two pages, puzzles, etc.

Easter Egg Coloring Pages:

You don’t need me to tell you that a simple coloring sheet is great for toddlers! It can be decorated, cut out, and hung up on a door or window for added effect. I mean, what kid doesn’t love using markers and tape??

Egg Hunt:

It’s no secret that kids love to hunt eggs. But how can you make this educational?? Instead of hiding candy inside, I use this for endless activities! Hide speech targets, alphabet magnets, puzzle pieces.. literally anything inside! The kids will be entertained and engaged in whatever you ask of them when you add something this fun to the mix. The best part is that it can be done indoors or outdoors!

Tie Dye Coffee Filter Eggs:

These are the MOST fun!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • markers
  • coffee filters
  • cup of water
  • paper towels
  • plate or cardboard (something to let them dry on)

Color the coffee filter with “patches” of color or any other design you would like. Fold coffee filter in half and continue until you have a triangle. Dip coffee filter into the water until saturated. Carefully open the coffee filter and lay it flat to dry. Once dried, we cut ours into egg shapes using our Easter egg color sheets we did previously and then hung them on the door!

Bunny Craft:

I came across several recreations of this craft on Pinterest! Eventually, I will share a full tutorial on how to do this exact craft! But this one is so much fun for the children to glue cotton balls on to their bunnies. They loved seeing their own faces peeking through.

To make, glue cotton balls on a paper plate. Cut out/glue a photo of your child’s face to the top. Cover edges with cotton balls. Add some ears and their footprints! I used paint and cardstock to create the kids’ footprints and painted the ears with the same paint. You might need to use a hot glue gun to get the feet to stick to the cotton because they don’t seem to like regular glue for that! These bunnies make the perfect keepsake and are fun and engaging for the kiddos. I will forever look back at how tiny their little feet once were!
