I’m so excited to introduce myself to you and tell you a little about me!
I’m Mychal, a pediatric speech-language pathologist, wife, and mommy of two little ones. I am from small town, Kentucky. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and another in Communication Disorders, as well as a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology. I specialize in early childhood development and the pediatric population. I also conduct homeschool preschool for my children.
Was homeschooling always my plan? Absolutely not. After all, I am an SLP. Children thrive on socialization and I am big on promoting it; however, the pandemic changed a lot of things for my family, with school being one of them. I opted to homeschool them until there was a sense of normalcy in education again.
Did I always plan to become a blogger on top of homeschooling and working full-time? Nope!
During the quarantine and as the pandemic continued, I shared activities the kids were doing at home on social media for friends and family to keep up with us since we were unable to visit loved ones. Upon sharing these things, I found that many of my friends were interested in the same activities we were doing at home and several were asking for my lesson plans, activities, and ideas.
I also created a special page on Facebook as an SLP to share speech and language resources with parents since therapies were halted during that time. I wanted everyone to have access to the materials they needed for their children to thrive even in the midst of a pandemic.
Suddenly, parents had no choice but to become teachers, therapists, doctors, and so on for their children.. on top of the endless responsibilities parents already have. Oh, and don’t forget about juggling working from home or being an essential worker with no childcare options. It was (and still is, to a degree) stressful for everyone.
As I continued to share our pandemic experience with my friends, they would tell me, “You need to start a blog to share this with other parents out there!” I would happily respond, “Maybe someday!”
Fast forward to now. I am carving out the time to do what I thought I would never have time for. Life is busyyy and so fast-paced. It is hard to keep up with all the demands. So, naturally, anything that makes this crazy life easier to navigate is much appreciated. So, here I am.. offering my knowledge and creativity to you in hopes of making things simpler for you! I hope you enjoy the content I share and gain valuable information from it. I would love to get to know my readers, so share something about yourself!
I’m so glad to see your dream becoming reality! You are a wonderful mom and amazing SLP. I can’t wait to see what you share and learn from you! Blessings to you!
