March 2020. This was the month I unknowingly began a journey that would lead me to where I am now.. curled up on my couch, wrapped in my favorite cozy blanket, typing up a post for my BLOG! Ya’ll, I thought it would never happen. It was always something I talked about doing “someday.” Someday is here, you guys! I am so thankful for the knowledge and experiences I have gained in my lifetime that have prepared me for this new adventure.
Last year, the pediatric outpatient facility I work for closed its doors and put therapy on hold as we awaited the unforeseeable end of a global pandemic, unsure of the whens, whys, and hows that were to come. I decided to focus on the positives (admittedly, something I do not always do) during that time. I shifted my focus to the extra time at home with my kids that I felt so blessed to have. I had fun activities planned for us every single day during the quarantine. The kids loved it (and so did I)!! They were so motivated to learn and even more excited to spend every waking moment of their lives with mama.
My lessons and activities started out a little arbitrary, but then became more structured and thematic as I began to get in the groove of things. After I returned to work in June, I continued the lessons as I had time. The decision was made to not send the kids to public school during this time. After all, they were preschool age (3 and 4 at the time) and I had the background and education to implement a similar experience for them at home. So that’s what I did.
Back working full-time, I started planning my homeschool lessons for a 3-day school week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). We officially kicked off a legitimate homeschool preschool in early September 2020 and have been going ever since! I can’t wait to share all that we have done with you and maybe give a little inspiration in the process!
Thanks for the freebie! I love how interactive and hands-on it is! Love your classroom, too! So encouraging and inviting for motivational learning. 🤗
